We employ tutors who are great role models, are very knowledgeable in their area, and have an infectious love of learning and people. If this characterizes you then you would make a great fit for Eyes On The Prize Tutoring!
Job Description & Requirements
We provide tutoring services to students in Nassau County, Suffolk County, and throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Traveling is part of the job and we do offer reimbursement for travel for our employees. Our tutors are not obligated to take any position offered and are employed on an “as needed basis”. This is due to the fact that there may not be a need for your expertise when you apply. Upon the acceptance of your application we will commence our interview process. If you are hired your name will go on a roster and you will be called as the need for your expertise arises.
Our tutors are also able to set their own hours (within limits) as well as their travel time. You will only work as many hours as you are comfortable handling. The workload could be anywhere from 1 – 20 hours per week, and we pay our tutors a salary comparable to that of the hourly wage of a starting teacher on Long Island. Other positions such as group tutoring and business training can offer a significant increase in salary. All of our contractors will receive 1099's and our employees will receive a W-2 form for each year, and will receive payment on a biweekly basis.

Requirements
- For our elementary students, we require NYS certification. For secondary students and college, while we prefer certified New York State teachers we recognize that not all great teachers are certified and not all certified teachers are great. We welcome the application of prospective teachers completing collegiate study toward certification, college professors, and other knowledgeable professionals with a love of teaching and ability to communicate challenging concepts effectively.
- You will be asked to provide a copy of your certification(s) as well as a resume.
- Potential employees will be subject to background checks and drug tests.
- Although it is not a requirement, references that can comment on your teaching skills and tutoring abilities are strongly recommended.
